I'm an HCPS teacher with 24 years' experience in mathematics education. I'm certified by MSDE in Secondary Mathematics. I have taught every level of secondary mathematics from 7th grade math through AP Calculus AB. I have a responsive approach to tutoring, finding out where a student is, zeroing in on problems, and addressing them as we go. I try to make students feel as comfortable and powerful as possible! Side Note: I notice that many of the available math tutors on this site have advanced degrees in things like engineering. That's great, and a true testament to their abilities in math! However, please consider how long it may have been since they were in a high school math classroom. Are they familiar with the Common Core and its methods, demands, and purposes? Will they speak the same mathematical "language" your child has learned in school? What a great benefit to hire a tutor who is also a teacher...one who knows exactly what is expected and is intimately familiar with the type of assessments your child will be taking and the intricacies of the curriculum.
